Project summary
Okaeria Road is situated east of Te Kauwhata and provides access to the forestry and farming districts to the east as well as being an alternative route to the Coromandel. This is an AWPT and Minor Safety project that starts at R.P 5.520 and ends at R.P 5.840, a project length of 320m.
Project description
The project involves a realignment of the existing 45 km/hr speed restricted S-bend at the end of the forestry area along Okaeria Rd. This will involve a major cut through the bank on the northern side of the existing road with some associated benching, and a number of mature pine trees have been removed. The new alignment, with a maximum total pavement thickness of 500mm, will match in to the recently completed AWPT (Okaeria III) either side of the proposed works.
The project value is $220,923.30, and will be executed by Higgins Contractors Waikato. Construction has commenced and work is expected to be complete in May 2012.
