Can I pay my rates and water rates by credit card?
No, we do not currently have this facility.

I didn’t receive my rates notice?
Occasionally rates notices will not arrive. This may happen as we have not been advised of your current postal address. We send rates notices at least six weeks prior to the due date. If you have not received your notice within four weeks of the due date please contact us.

What is the last day for payment of rates?
There are three instalment / due dates in the rating year, these dates are:
Waikato district
- 1st Instalment 23 September
- 2nd Instalment 23 January
- 3rd Instalment 23 May
Former Franklin district
- 1st Instalment 31 August
- 2nd Instalment 30 November
- 3rd Instalment 31 March
If these dates were to fall on a weekend or holiday the due date would be moved to the next business day.

Can I pay my rates and water account by Direct Debit?
Yes, you can choose from weekly, fortnightly, monthly and you can choose your preferred start date also by instalment which is every instalment due date (four monthly).

How do I check if I am up to date on my rates?
Please contact our Customer Delivery team on 07 824 8633. If you wish to enter into a payment arrangement please ask to speak to the Credit Controller.

Can I change the name on my property?
Yes, you must provide Waikato District Council with a copy of your Certificate of Title with the amended name. Once this is provided we can update our Rating Information Database.

Change of ownership of a property?
Your solicitor would usually provide us with a Notice of Sale. We must be notified of the sale or transfer within one month after the effective date of the sale or transfer.
