I have been working at Waikato District Council since January 2009 in the role of IS (information Services) support co-ordinator. My job is to provide technical and user support for all hardware, software and network information to all council users including libraries. On a daily basis, I answer all IS helpdesk enquiries, set up computers for new staff, provide IT information and assist people on how to use our computer network. My role also involves the maintenance of our phone system which includes voicemail assistance and connectivity to users emails and calendars.
I am originally from Fiji and held a similar position there before moving to New Zealand and successfully starting my role at the council. I completed my studies in Fiji where I achieved a Bachelor of Information Technology.
I really enjoy working here as the staff are very supportive, friendly and helpful. There is always something new to learn with lots of new projects arising and technology evolving.
