Georgia Rowell

Librarian – Ngaruawahia Library

Libraries are more than books, no longer places where everyone has to be quiet. They are the hub of the community, busy information centres where people send e-mails, surf the net, read the paper, meet friends for a chat, do some quiet study or find the latest thriller.

My role is to manage the day-to-day operation of our library and ensure it is a welcoming environment with a proactive approach to customer care.

I have worked at Waikato District Council for 24 years. The reasons I enjoy working here are because Council is supportive and caring. There is a genuine interest in staff and opinions, the culture is quite unique for a work place - family-like, and instils pride in your position.
