Mayor's Message
Council has some interesting days ahead as we look to incorporate the southern portion of Franklin district into the Waikato.
There will be about 14,500 people from Franklin combining with 46,000 people already in the district and this will make us one of the largest rural Councils in the Central North Island. We welcome the people of Franklin into our district and look forward to working with them and getting to know them better over the coming years.
This transition provides some challenges for both Councils as we get to know each other’s infrastructure, assets and people. We will also need to spend time looking at our different growth areas and how we continue to deliver services to our ratepayers.
We look forward to the challenge and endeavour to always do what is best for the people in our district. We will certainly keep you informed as we work through this Transition process.

Mayor Peter Harris
