Business development

The Waikato District Council encourages new investment and businesses into the district, in order to facilitate future development and growth. The Council works with the Waikato Enterprise Agency and neighbouring local authorities to help integrate new commercial, industrial, and residential developments into the community which will enhance the district and employment opportunities.

The Waikato District Council understands the importance of attracting investment and new residents to the district, and places a great deal of importance on helping new or potential business wherever possible.

By working cooperatively with the Waikato Enterprise Agency and neighbouring local authorities, the Council is able to ensure an integrated approach to new commercial, industrial and residential developments that have the potential to enhance the quality of life for people in the district.

Every effort is made to accommodate and assist new business and lifestyle opportunities, while remaining conscious of sustaining the district’s clean environment and high yielding productive land.
Development applications are processed professionally and with the minimum of red tape in order to facilitate a diverse economic base.

From the resiting of buildings to subdivision applications, drainage enquiries to reticulated water supply, the Council is geared to helping the district develop in accordance with demand and steady population growth.
