Hazardous waste

The Waikato District Council encourages you to dispose of hazardous materials properly. If not disposed of properly, hazardous materials can have a negative effect on the environment, people, or animals that come into contact with the waste.

Hazardous waste includes:

  • Chemicals
  • Asbestos
  • Waste oil
  • Paint
  • Sprays
  • Batteries

Disposing of Hazardous Waste

Chemicals can be left at the Huntly, Raglan and Te Kauwhata Recycle and Refuse Transfer Stations free of charge. This applies to household quantities only – not commercial quantities of hazardous waste.
