Notice of Requirement for Designation

Notice of Requirement for Designation

Under section 169 of the Resource Management Act 1991

Waikato District Council has received a Notice of a Requirement for Designation by WEL Networks Ltd for Raglan Substation

Description of Proposal
The requirement is for an electricity substation called the Raglan Substation. The proposed work will be for the establishment, construction, operation, maintenance, replacement, repair, upgrading of, and entrance to and exit from a substation, and parts of, and work for, or relating to, electricity transformation and distribution. The substation building will be 240m² (8m x 30m) and will initially contain one transformer with a plan to add a second transformer in the future when the load in Raglan grows. The building will have separate rooms for the control room, the switch gear (11kV and 33kV), and the transformer. Car parks will be located on site and will have access to Hills Road from a proposed right-of-way that will utilise the existing entrance currently serving 2 Hills Road. The site will be fenced (wooden post and rail) and the perimeter will be landscaped

Location of the site
The area of land to be designated for the substation is a triangular area approximately 905m² and is located within 2 Hills Road, a 7621m² property legally described as Lot 1 DPS 37117.
