Issues and Options Report released

Issues and Options Report released

The Raglan Structure Plan Whaingaroa Kaupapa Issues and Options Report is now available for community feedback.

All Raglan residents were mailed a Summary of the report for their consideration, as part of Phase Two of the Raglan Structure Plan process.

The Issues and Options Report explores ways to manage the effect of future growth and development in Raglan. Following feedback on the preferred option a final Structure Plan will be released in July 2010.

Waikato District Council is asking residents to comment on 10 key issues, which include urban expansion, employment opportunities, landscape character, cultural and heritage values, and the Raglan Wharf.

Council’s Environmental Services Group Manager, Nath Pritchard said community involvement is vital to helping to develop a clear direction for the future of Raglan and its surrounding communities.

Community members have the opportunity to discuss matters raised in the Issues and Options Report with Council staff at scheduled Public Open Days. These Open Days are being held on Tuesday 14 July and Friday 17 July 2009, 3pm to 6pm, in the Raglan Town Hall.

“Structure Plans are an excellent way of working with a community to develop their own future. I encourage everyone to get involved and help us find the best ways to deal with the issues for the future,” Mr Pritchard said.

A copy of the full Issues and Options Report and the Summary can be viewed online at www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz  under Public consultation. Or a copy can be viewed at Council’s Raglan and Ngaruawahia offices and libraries.

Feedback on the Issues and Options report must be received by Friday 7 August 2009.
