Part 7 of the Local Government Act 2002 requires all territorial authorities to carry out assessments of Water and Sanitary Services. The primary purpose of these assessments is to ensure that public health is adequately protected.
Assessments have been prepared for the following water services:
- Water Supply
- Wastewater
- Stormwater
The following sanitary services assessments are also included:
- Cemeteries
- Public Toilets
Solid waste is excluded from this assessment. The Act does not require an assessment of solid waste to be included in this assessment, provided the Council has adopted a waste management plan.
